You probably had one through high school, maybe even college, but your grandfather might have had one during the Korean War, too—EASTPAK has been making bags since 1952. Originally enlisted to provide bags for the U.S. Army, the Seattle-based bagmaker has since rose to much more than a heritage brand, but as recognized symbol across all social lines as a great, quality backpack.

However, it wasn't until the 1970s when the bag company gained its well-known cool. From then on, its legacy would be cemented as the go-to for students, or anyone with a nose for adventure. Watch the video above to get your weekend history lesson.
