Named after the founder of Cahiers d'Art, Christian Zervos, the first edition of the Zervos Picasso Catalogue was published in 1932. Containing over 16,000 paintings and drawings by Pablo Picasso, a complete set of the 33 volumes had been hard to find, until now. The publishing company has announced that the Zervos will be reprinted and distributed exclusively through the Sotheby's Auction House and the Cahiers d'Art gallery with orders shipping around Christmas this year. The price is pretty steep for this collection, but this catalogue is said to be one of the most important collections of the artist's work, as it represents a life-long relationship between Picasso and Zervos and will be made available for the first time.
Current owner of Cahiers d'Art, Staffan Ahrenberg says that, “Christian Zervos dedicated his life to Picasso, and it is our great honor to continue the Zervos/Picasso story and legacy. I think it is essential for the Zervos to be back in print and available to collectors, scholars and the trade."
