Some solid info has finally been revealed about the new Maison Martin Margiela and Converse collaboration. So far we’ve learned that the shoes coming out are both the Chuck Taylor and Jack Purcell models and both are whited-out with paint.

Today we discover that the shoes are actually hand painted and naturally crack over time. Once the paint chips start falling off, the shoes slowly reveal the original colors beneath, giving each pair a unique and really awesome look. “The Maison has always been obsessed with white; it is used as a layer to give an incognito feeling. A sort of poetry, with the passage of time, the shoe asserts itself,” says Maison Martin Margiela. There are four colors available, but why spoil the surprise? Find out for yourself when they start shedding. The shoes will be available at Margiela stores and select Converse First String retailers this month for $200.
