The Chinese artist known as Liu Bolin makes a career out of camouflage, painting himself and others into the landscapes of cities and other environments to blend seamlessly into the photographs he takes. We last saw him—or rather tried to see him—this July, when he was sinking into the concrete of New York’s 5Pointz Aerosol Arts Center. Now, he’s taking up a residence in Caracas, Venezula, where he was drawn to because of massive problems of inequity and inflation. Reuters caught up with him on the occasion of his arrival in the country. “When I arrived in Venezuela,” he told the wire service, “I realized that the car I was in was armored. That gave me the idea to reflect the violence that exists today in this country.” Check out some of his work in the video above and more of Bolin here.
