When Italian eyewear brand Retrosuperfuture opened its first flagship in New York City on a narrow block straddling Manhattan's SoHo and Chinatown last Friday, the momentous event appeared to warrant more than the usual amount of celebration.

The company—whose styles have been worn by the likes of Daft Punk and A$AP Rocky—released a new line of special edition sunglasses to herald the arrival of the first flagship store at 21 Howard Street. Retrosuperfuture dedicated the recent design, named Novanta, to the city that will be its new home.

The polished, sleek Novanta shades "maintain a minimal yet powerful statement," according to Retrosuperfuture. "From the Italian acetate, to the hardware, and the Carl Zeiss extra black rock hard lenses."

The understated shape and color scheme of the sunglasses evoke a Guido Anselmi feel, all enigmatic in a black and white suit.

You'll find the Novantas and more at Retrosuperfuture's new location, open now. More information at the company's site
