The London Bridge is Growing Trees, and UOENO

It's not always greener on the other side. Sometimes it's greenest on the way there.

Actress and environmental activist Joanna Lumley has teamed up with architect Thomas Heatherwick to design a “Garden Bridge” that spans the Thames. The project began in response to disgruntled Londoners, who have been calling for more pedestrian-friendly ways to cross the river. Epected to be completed by 2017, the bridge will stretch from the ITV tower on the South Bank over to the Temple tube stop. In addition to providing pedestrians another way to cross the river, the Garden Bridge will contribute to our environmental consciousness.

“We are committed to ensuring the Garden Bridge will be something that London can be proud of,” said Lord Mervyn Davies, Chairman of the Garden Bridge Trust.
