Architectural designer Rem Koolhaas has joined Foster + Partners and design team Luhrmann and Martin on the Faena Miami Beach project, organized by property developer Alan Faena. Faena presented the plans during Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami, plans that will transform the beachfront site into a "cultural quarter."

The three teams are working towards one goal, but each has its own project to see completed: Koolhaas and his firm OMA have designed the Faena Arts Center, Foster + Partners is building a condominium tower, and Luhrmann and Martin are working to restore the Faena Saxony Hotel. According to Dezeen, Koolhaas will also be creating a retail building and an automated car parking garage. Speaking of his involvement and the project overall, Koolhaas says, "culture is at the core of Faena’s vision, and has been the driving force for our collaboration...By curating their neighborhood with programmatic diversity, Alan’s sphere of influence will likely extend beyond this development to the rest of Miami Beach."
