When Banksy took to the streets of New York back in October, holding a month-long, illicit residency that moreover took place on the net, one of the most gabbed about pieces he left behind was a version of this wounded red heart balloon. It was so prized that workers carved it out of the wall in the middle of the night and took the slab to Miami to be auctioned off.

Over the weekend, a version of the heart balloon on a piece of wood ended up at a charity auction thrown by the actor Sean Penn. To help support the continued rebuilding efforts of residents of Haiti, following the devastating earthquake there in 2010, a number of artworks were auctioned off. But the nearly million-dollar Banksy was the show-stealer, taking in a $650,000 to be donated to charity. The Coldplay singer Chris Martin picked up the piece. Check out a detailed shot of the new piece above.

According to People, Penn's annual charity event, the Help Haiti Home Gala, raked in more than $6 million in aid money.
