Japan-based brand EYEVAN first got its start in 1911 as a lens manufacturing company called Yamamoto Kogaku. For 75 years, the brand built its reputation among the hometown market, then carefully made a stateside push at the Optic Fair West in Anaheim, Calif. EYEVAN showcased its work for the first time in America there and promptly blew up.

The company just released its 7285 collection, which contains 46 takes on 11 different styles. Model 538 stands out from the rest: these specs look like slimmed-down pilot's goggles, and are outfitted with titanium accents against tortoise shell. These can be worn as either sun or prescription glasses, and are a welcome redesign on the usual plastic, black frames.
