You don't have to be a kid to enjoy the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, set to kick off in New York next month. During the month of April, over 200 massive egg sculptures will be "hidden" throughout New York's five boroughs for city dwellers to find. Though none of these eggs have been filled with chocolate bunnies or candy, each one is unique and has been designed by some of our favorite artists, architects, and creative minds. Curtis Kulig, DAIN, Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, and Zaha Hadid are just some of the artists who have been slated to decorate these glorious 2-and-a-half-feet tall eggs.
It'll be just like the Easter egg hunts from our childhood, except you'll use a smart phone app specially designed for the event. The app allows participants to check in whenever they've discovered one of the egg creations, and it will notify them whenever they're within a 20-foot radius of one of the fancy eggs.
Best part? The Fabergé-sponsored egg hunt is all for charity. During the final week of April, all the egg sculptures will be auctioned off in a sale by Sotheby's. All proceeds will go towards Studio in a School, which provides art education to children in under-served public schools across the city. It will also benefit Elephant Family, an organization dedicated to saving the endangered Asian elephant.
