The cult classic The Warriors might have been a fictional movie, but the truth is there was still a gang of misfits that claimed Coney Island as their turf. SSUR focused on the seedier side of the seaside attraction for its new spring/summer 2014 collection. While you might know the place for Nathan’s hotdogs, the Cyclone, and oddball shows, SSUR dug up pictures from Coney Island’s dark past for inspiration.

The results are rare pictures of "God’s Children," a gang that ran these mean streets during the ‘70s and ‘80s. The hardcore vibes and the gang’s ethos of “extended family” follow the same aesthetic as SSUR's. And the clothes offered reference similar designs, like top and bottom rockers from motorcycle jackets, on T-shirts and more. Head to the SSUR website now to cop.
