One of the most controversial art pieces of all-time, a print of Andres Serrano's Piss Christ has surfaced as a part of Sotheby's upcoming Contemporary Art Day Auction. Serrano took a crucifix and submerged it in his own urine for the photograph, which caused a bit of static between the artist and religious people around the world. It also sparked conversation about the idea of public art funding because Serrano received more than $15,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The print in the auction is dated 1987 and is number 7 of 10. The estimate is between $100,000 and $150,000, but we'll have to wait until May 15 to see how badly collectors want to get their hands on the golden showered Jesus.
