"Pixel art was heavily used during the ’80s and ’90s, due to the resolution limitations of video games of that time period," said Anthony Barros of Boo! Studios to Wired. He added that "those were my golden childhood years."

Inspired by the cartoons and games of his (and your) youth, Barros created 8-bit pixel art of his own as an homage to his favorite pop culture characters. Every child of the '90s should recognize the characters that Barros chose, from the always popular  X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to our personal favorites, Biker Mice from Mars and The Powerpuff Girls. This art definitely brings back memories of cartoon marathons, perler beads, and action figures, and for that we are grateful.

Barros has made some of his 8-bit art available as prints and other Society6 merchandise in a series called "Pixel Nostalgia." We were a little sad to see that there are no Gargoyles or Street Sharks prints, but the Thundercats mug definitely makes up for it.
