For his series “Destruction/Creation,” South Africa-based artist Chris Slabber used digital techniques to combine photographs with the mystifying effects created by paint swirling in water. The resulting images are captivating billows of vibrant color that depict the subjects of his photographs.
After the pigments are dropped into the water, their rapid dispersal and proliferation result in human-like forms. But, these forms are only perceptible for a second or two. They soon disappear.
“The idea behind this series was to show that from Destruction comes Creation. As the paint falls there is a constant point of creation, but at the same time it destroys itself,” the artist said.
