Online audio distribution platform Soundcloud was founded in 2007 in Sweden and set up their headquarters in Berlin shortly after. They also have a tech office in San Francisco and partners in London and Los Angeles, but a year ago the company announced that they would be doing a little expanding on the East Coast.
They recently opened their largest US office on 5th Avenue in New York, a 7,080-square-foot space designed by San Francisco-based firm Blitz Design, with furnishings by Ohio Design and One WorkPlace. Visitors are welcomed by a chalk mural by Mari Johnson and photography by Kait Ebinger, tieing in the graffiti culture of Berlin with influences from the Valley. Employees will also draw on the walls and Soundcloud will be hiring other chalk artists to create larger murals in the future.
