For a new biographical series of graphic novels from Laurence King Publishing, London-based art historian Catherine Ingram and illustrators Andrew RaePeter Ankle, and a team of writers and artists are working to tell the stories of great artists including Dali, Warhol, Matisse, Pollock, Klimt, Bacon, and over 20 others with thoroughly researched illustrations and interesting narratives.

"I wanted to create something that isn't too long and isn't a burden to read," Ingram told Fast Co, "I tell all the writers in the series, don't talk massively about art movements because essentially, I feel these books are not about complicated ideas. These stories are about what how these artists express what it means to be human." Each of the books in the "This Is" series will be 80 pages long and feature images of the artist's childhood homes and studio spaces that have been drawn to be historically accurate, but also take advantage of the fact that they are illustrations.

We think that the series will appeal to younger audiences interested in art history, as well as older art lovers. For more information, head to the Laurence King Publishing website.
