Marina Abramovic's 512 Hours performance at London's Serpentine Gallery is in full swing right now, and tens of thousands of people have already visited the space to be with the artist and nap, cry, and feel peace. You still have until August 25 to participate in the performance, but there is another performance happening near the gallery in Hyde Park that has people talking for very different reasons.

As a parody of Abramovic's The Artist Is Present performance, artist and comedian Hannah Ballou has introduced the world to Marina Abramopug, an adorable dog (whose real name is Nigel) in a red shirt and black wig, perched on a chair in the park.

In a recent interview with Dazed, Ballou said that it was the pug's idea to recreate the performance. "I'm happy to take a back seat to Marina Abramopug's genius. It's an honour just being around her." She also said that members of Abramovic's team have participated in the performance and showed photos to the artist currently confined to Serpentine for the duration of her own performance.

Fans of the parody and of the furry artist are invited to use the #MarinaAbramopug hashtag and to check the official Tumblr for photos and crowd reactions to the work, similar to the handwritten notes left by visitors for 512 Hours. As for Abramopug's future plans, Ballou says that "she's in discussions with rapper Snoop Dogg about a future collaboration, which we think will really shake up the art world."
