As a part of a series of imaginative portraits, illustrator Dan Lish has being paying homage to hip-hop pioneers and legends in the dopest way. Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, MF Doom, Kool Keith, Guru, and DJ Premier are all drawn in a comic style, immersed in their own fantastic worlds of records, anthropomorphic speakers, and the cosmos. The artist says on his Tumblr blog that there will be more portraits added to the "Ego-Strip" collection soon, including art inspired by Masta Ace, Melle Mel, KRS One, and J Dilla, and prints are also on the way.

We know that hip-hop comics have been a thing for a while, but there is always room for more, and Dan Lish's art would be perfect for this genre. Check out a few of our favorite portraits below, and head to Lish's website for more.
