The genesis of Madrid-based brand ECOALF lies within founder Javier Goyeneche’s desire to create a clothing brand that was contemporary and eco-friendly. However, during the early stages of his company, he realized that the majority of recycled textiles were inferior and only contained a small percentage of recycled materials. So in an effort to get past that hurdle, he decided to deeply investigate manufacturers that produced high quality fabrics that were truly sustainable.

“I found the need to start creating partnerships with factories in order to develop fabrics, lining, straps, labels and cords using recycled materials,” says Goyeneche. “By investing in R+D and traveling the world to identify the ideal manufacturing resources, we carefully built the foundation that would become ECOALF.”

Five years later, the brand continues its reputation for innovation and sustainability with its Fall/Winter 2014 collection. Anchored by performance outerwear, the line includes insulated puffer jackets, ultra light wool vests, water-resistance blazers, and solid winter parkas—all of which were made from recycled plastic bottles and fabrics.
