Kalen Hollomon, the New York-based collage artist who was featured in the Capsule New York's Spring/Summer 2015 show, will open an installation today in The Box at The Standard, Hollywood. The self-titled installation will feature elements from the Capsule Show installation, including (according to the press release) "a selection of large-scale photographic elements culled from vintage fashion advertisements, pornography from the '80s and '90s, and found photography."

"The idea, and what I attempt to do, is to insert an uneasy, torrid sexual feeling into an image without making the image actually pornographic," Hollomon told us in an interview about the Capsule installation. "I'm trying to capture a bit of that weird pornography essence in imagery that's visually safe for the whole family, but maybe unsafe subconsciously." Of the installation opening today, he said in a press release, "The elements of this show, combined as they are here, capture something I love—romance in images that are beautiful yet slightly unnerving."

Kalen Hollomon will remain on view through the month of October. For more information about this and future installations, check out The Standard on Instagram and @standardhwood on Twitter.
