A man known on the basketball court for his equal parts tenacity and signature beard, budding New York Knicks player Quincy Acy has used his lush facial features to not only showcase his personal style, but also to help spread awareness in a community that holds dear to his heart. Coming up in the small town of Mesquite, Texas, moving to the big-city life of NYC has been quite the transition for the 24-year-old.

It’s something that he’s taken in stride, adapting to the grueling demands of professional basketball (particularly the rigors of travel), while trying to juggle family life and giving back to his hometown via his namesake foundation that sets up free basketball camps for local kids. Acy recently took a break from the busy NBA schedule and sat down with Bevel to discuss his journey to becoming a pro baller, the importance of family, and how the hashtag #PutYourBeardFace is helping to inspire and help kids.
