Cara Delevingne doesn't seem to be having any trouble transitioning from modeling to acting. The former supermodel just landed a starring role in a huge upcoming sci-fi movie, Luc Besson, the film's director, announced on Twitter.

The movie's full title is Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and will start filming this winter for a 2017 release date. The film is an adaptation of the French comic series Valerian, which features a man and woman who travel through time and space in order to protect the universe. Delevingne will star alongside Dane DeHaan, who you may know from Chronicle, The Place Beyond the Pines, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Given Besson's resume, this seems like a great grab for Delevingne. Besson has directed many successful movies, including The Fifth Element and Lucy, and has helped create franchises such as Taken and Transporter.

If you can't wait until 2017 to get your fix of Delevingne on the big screen, you're in luck. Paper Towns, starring Delevingne, hits theaters on July 24.
