Having a designer shopping habit can be expensive. But, as the blogger behind The Aesthetic Post David Tripp has discovered, trying to impersonate a stylist to cover your bill will end up costing you a lot more.

According to the New York Times, Tripp began impersonating a celebrity stylist to make large purchases from Manhattan boutiques. The 32-year-old, who claimed to work for Johnny Depp and musician Brandon Flowers, would place orders over the phone using stolen credit card numbers.

Tripp was finally caught last June by a suspicious Marc Jacobs employee, after a several month run of hitting up stores like Acne Studios, Jil Sander, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. Now, he has pled guilty to 13 counts of identity theft, attempted identity theft and forgery. In order to avoid jail time he will have to pay a total of $50,037 in restitution to the stores.
