This Student Spent 2,000 Hours Creating an Entire 3D-Printed Clothing Collection

This graduate student has created an entire clothing collection made entirely from 3D printing technology.

You can create almost anything if you’ve got a 3D printer on hand. From a wall of robotic penises to a portrait of President Barack Obama to a Formula 1 race car, it seems the possibilities are endless. But one graduate student blew all those other creations away when she designed an entire clothing line made from a 3D printer.

Danit Peleg, a 27-year-old Israeli student from the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, decided she’d step outside her comfort zone when it came to her final project. According to Mashable, she had no prior experience with 3D-printing technology, so she conducted nine months of research before diving in.

“I wanted to challenge myself to print the entire collection using home 3D printers,” Peleg told Mashable. “To be honest, I also wanted to have the freedom to make my own textiles as opposed to depending on what I’d find on the market.”

The final collection, which was inspired by Delacroix’s Liberty Leading People painting, took about 2,000 hours to print. It was comprised of five different looks that included a crop top, a jacket, and several dresses.

It was a pretty ambitious task, but she executed it perfectly. You can take a look at Peleg’s 3D creations in the Instagram images below.
