Everyone wants to look their best when they head back to school in the fall, but now teens are taking it to the extreme by altering their appearance. Since summer break offers extended recovery time, it has become the unofficial start of cosmetic surgery season.

“Between social media and reality television, nobody thinks twice about plastic surgery anymore, and it trickles down to the teens,” says Dr. Matthew Schulman to New York Daily News. He also shared that he gets 10 emails a week from teenage girls looking to get Kylie Jenner's lips.

Teenage patients are also seeking popular procedures like nose jobs and breast implants, operations that can cost around $10,000. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 64,000 cosmetic surgery patients were 13 to 19-years-old, which Dr. Shulman says was unheard of five years ago, and they are anticipating the number will rise.
