Simply put, Business of Fashion's BOF 500 is a neatly compiled archive of 500 of the fashion industry's biggest movers and shakers. This year's edition, features plenty of familiar faces—including Public School/DKNY creative directors Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, and, of course, Kanye West.

But how does someone end up on the coveted shortlist? Well, a combination of community nominations and months of diversified data analysis help the team at Business of Fashion compile the list every year. Considering Kanye West's explosive 2015—premiering Yeezy Season 1 in February and recently showcasing Yeezy Season 2 this past NYFW—it's obvious why he deserves a returning seat at this table. The duo of Chow and Osborne made the list back in 2014, due chiefly to their impact with the burgeoning NYC-based Public School. But with the pair's expansion into womenswear—both with their own line and for their latest role at the head of DKNY—there's little doubt they were prime contenders to return for 2015's compilation.

As for fresh faces to grace the list, pop culture and fashion phenomena Gigi Hadid, Gucci's Alessandro Michele, Alexander Wang-discovered "it model" Anna Ewers, and Caitlyn Jenner are some of the most notable new additions.

To read up on the industry's most impactful key players, and to see who made the cut, head over to the BOF 500.
