Messy kids rejoice. New research suggests that making your bed could actually be harming your health. According to a Kingston University Study, a tidy bed can actually be a breeding ground for dust mites. The tiny critters that feast on the scales of human skin are thought to cause asthma and other allergies.

While the average mattress could house about 1.5 million dust mites, an unmade bed creates an environment that is too warm and dry for the insects to hangout. Without moisture, the mites will eventually dehydrate and die.

So, if someone gives you a hard time about your unkempt resting place, you'll actually have a legit reason for it.
