Though Jean Touitou has made some pretty ill-advised decisions in the past, his recent investment in Outdoor Voices reminds us he’s still a smart businessman.

Earlier today, the designer announced he had bought a stake in the technical sportswear specialist, but has yet to disclose the exact amount. Vogue UK reports that the two brands will celebrate the partnership with a collaborative collection set to drop next year.

"I knew that I loved OV when I saw their fabric selection," Touitou told Vogue UK. "They are so material focused that I immediately thought they were just like us. It's a good time to mix real sportswear with real fashion, so the opportunity to invest was too good to miss."

Since its launch almost three years ago, Outdoor Voices has quickly gained a loyal fan base among those who appreciate clean, yet highly technical sportswear. In 2014, its understated designs caught the attention of J. Crew, which sold its collections for a brief period of time until Outdoor Voices decided to expand the brand on its own. And what better way to generate buzz than by teaming up with a powerhouse like A.P.C.?

Stay tuned as more information about the collaboration rolls through.
