Jeweler to the stars Ben Baller—with clients including Kanye West, Drake, Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey—is set to launch his own clothing line, Superism, at the beginning of next year. As expected, Baller (whose real last name is Yang) and his new brand are aiming to please the upscale niche. Created with luxury in mind and a price point similar to brands like COMME des GARÇONS, Yang is aiming for streetwear fans who care more about quality than trendy graphics.

In a recent interview with Hypebeast, Yang spoke about why now is the right time to launch Superism. “I just think it’s 10 years in the making. It’s a long time coming and overdue, and I don’t think it’s too late,” he said. “I feel like if I waited any longer, I would’ve passed my mark.”

Yang goes on to recall the influence of the late Jonas Bevacqua, an industry pioneer and the founder of the legendary LRG. “I don’t think it was until around 2005, when I got into jewelry, that I met Jonas,” the designer continued. “He made such a big impact on my life early on.”

It’s well known that Yang has roots in the world of streetwear and sneaker culture, and you can expect to see that deep knowledge and passion in his latest venture. Head on over to Hypebeast to read the full interview and expect the first Superism release to hit stores January 2016.
