We get it, you're excited. One of the greatest franchises in cinema is seeing new life for the first time in just over a decade, and you're planning on being first in line when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens at midnight, Dec. 18. However you decide to gear up for the event (for some moviegoers, it is definitely an event), there's no need to overdo it. After all, you don't want to look back a decade from now and wonder why you decided to be that guy—Jedi robes flowing, lightsaber in hand. Remember, if you take a step back from the hype, you're really just going to see a movie.
So, while it's probably not in your best sartorial interests to hit the theater in full-blown cosplay, that doesn't mean you can't show your love for everyone from Yoda to Darth Vader in a variety of gear that you'd feel comfortable wearing well after you leave the theater. Hey, get this right, and you might not have to cuddle up with your "slave Leia" body pillow after the credits roll. It's no Jedi mind trick; this is What to Wear to 'Star Wars' So You Don't Look Like You Live in Your Mom's Basement.
