Now that the temperature is beginning to drop, you might be looking to add a quality leather jacket to your cold-weather wardrobe. If that’s the case, John Elliott and Blackmeans have got your back.

During a visit to Japan for the development of his fall/winter 2016 collection, Elliott stopped by the Japanese brand’s showroom where he was able to meet its team. It didn’t take long for the American designer to notice their similarities.

“When I went to see their creations, I realized how much we have in common,” Elliott wrote in statement. “The Guys at Blackmeans are authentic and devoted to their craft. They are leather artisans who work with their hands on products they sell in their own shop, and who in their time off listen to punk rock. It was a very good match for us.”

The meeting, which was originally supposed to last 20 minutes, turned into a four-hour long discussion in which the brands began forming the collaborative collection. They eventually decided to create a couple leather pieces that fused signature elements from each brand.

The stadium jacket featured pleated motorcycle detail that’s used frequently by Blackmeans, while the moto jacket featured gussets that are used heavily throughout John Elliott’s latest collection.

“We collaborated with Blackmeans because their attention to detail and quality of leather and hardware are second to none,” Elliott explained. “These are some of my favorite products and at the end of the day, I love this product because these are jackets I want in my closet.”

You can check out the pieces in the lookbook here. The John Elliott x Blackmeans collection will drop Oct. 11.
