The 2005 audio, released just days ahead of Trump's second debate against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, featured Trump bragging to alleged person Billy Bush about being able to grab women "by the pussy" without permission due to his fame. But was Melania really making a statement against her husband's offensive remarks with that Gucci blouse?

According toCBS News, the Trump campaign "maintains that the choice of blouses was made exclusively for aesthetics," but the internet wasn't buying it:

When the leaked tape was brought up during Sunday's debate, Trump repeated his assertion that such bragging is "locker room talk" before diving into some ISIS-related grandstanding. "Nobody has more respect for women than I do," Trump added.

In a statement to New York Magazine shortly after the audio was circulated, Melania Trump called her husband’s remarks "unacceptable" while maintaining that he has the characteristics of a leader. "The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me," Melania said. "This does not represent the man I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation in the world."
