MINISO Ready To Dive Into Canadian Retail Market

Chinese variety store, MINISO, is expected to take a plunge into the Canadian retail market this year. The brand markets itself as a lifestyle brand, offering a variety of products, including kitchenware, cosmetics and even small electronics, all at bargain prices.

This dollar store-on-steroids is being compared to the likes of Dollarama and may bring a little healthy competition to the leading Canadian variety retailer. The retail chain also considers itself as competitors to both MUJI and UNIQLO, which both entered the Canadian retail market, last fall.

MINISO is also known to launch new product every seven days, giving the brand an advantage over other value-retailers.

The company has already opened up one Canadian location in Vancouver, and plans to open up to 50 stores across the country within the next year. There is also discussion of opening a number of stores in Toronto, although no dates or locations have been confirmed as of yet.

MINISO executives have expressed their desire to eventually operate up to 500 stores in Canada, within the next few years. The brand has demonstrated similar plans for expansion into the United States and Australia, and hopes to open up to 6000 stores, worldwide.
